NHS-Fluorescein

Description

Other names: 5/6-Carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester. 5/6-CFSE.

5/6-CFSE is cell permeable and covalently couples, via its succinimidyl group, to intracellular lysine residues or other amine containing biomolecules. Due to this covalent binding, fluorescent 5/6-CFSE can be retained within cells for very long periods.

Approximately 7-8 cell divisions can be identified before its fluorescence is too low to be distinguished above the autofluorescence background.

Lymphocyte proliferation, migration and positioning can be simultaneously monitored using 5/6-CFSE.

λex 492 nm; λem 517 nm
