Other names: Cyanine-5.5-thiethoxysilane. (3-Aminopropyl)-triethoxysilane modified Cyanine-5.5 fluorescent dye.

Can be used for attachment of a fluorescent probe through covalent binding to smart materials or biological objects.

Surfaces containing APTES-functionality have been shown to be nontoxic to embrionic rat cardiomyocytes in vitro.
